With the deadline for The Fox Vancouver Seeds 2012 submissions quickly creeping up (Friday, May 18 at 11:59PM PDT to be exact), Vancity Buzz had a chance to grab a quick interview with Max Kerman of the Arkells after his sound check in New York. Over the phone, we talked about the Arkells’ involvement in Seeds this year, CFOX and much more!

As the current season of American Idol winds up, one of the show’s most prolific alumni has announced a tour. Carrie Underwood, the multi-platinum, Grammy-award winning country singer will be making a stop in Vancouver on Thursday, October 4 as part of her North American tour. Hunter Hayes will be the supporting act.

After Axl Rose visited Vancouver with his band Guns N’ Roses in December 2011, another prolific member of the band will be in town. Slash, the former lead guitarist of Guns N’ Roses will play in Vancouver on Saturday July 14, 2012 with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators.

In anticipation of the much-rumoured new Microsoft gaming system, local Vancouver film student Anthony Bortolussi has released a faux commercial for the speculated “Xbox 720” as his final undergraduate assignment — and it’s blowing up on YouTube. Young the Giant is a band that has meticulously written and crafted songs together for three years, lived out of shared bedrooms and messy suitcases for two years, and hopped on and off of planes, buses, vans, cars and their beloved bicycles for over one full year, having played more than 160 shows in the past 365 days on 3 different continents. This summer their journey will bring them to Vancouver at the famous Commodore Ballroom.
