Vancouver Firefighters’ Charitable Society (VFCS) is excited to announce the return of their Umbrella Campaign on November 10.

This seasonal fundraising effort kicked off for the first time last year to great success and Vancouver’s firefighters will be taking to the streets again to raise funds for a good cause. This year, proceeds from the sale of umbrellas will go to the Vancouver Firefighters’ Charitable Society’s Snack Program, which provides over 60 thousand snacks to school children in Vancouver each year.

The VFCS believes that no child should go hungry at school and in 2013 the organization partnered with the Vancouver School Board to develop a school snack program. The ultimate goal is to ensure that all students have their nutritional needs met and can reach their full learning potential. Funds raised from the Umbrella Campaign will go towards buying and insuring a delivery cargo van for the program, as well as buying more snacks to increase distribution.

On the morning of November 10, from 7:30-10 a.m., Vancouver firefighters will be stationed at major skytrain stations and transit hubs across the city: Burrard Station, Granville and Georgia, Granville Station and Waterfront Station. Umbrellas are $10 each, but if you’re already equipped against the rain, Clif Bars will also be on sale for $2 each. 100% of proceeds will go towards the Snack Program.
