The UBC Social Enterprise Club presents UBC’s inaugural Social Enterprise Conference!
Attendees will get the chance to hear from thought leaders who have created immense scalable change within their respective fields and fellow students who have started their own social ventures. We have invited founders of highly successful social enterprises creating change on a global scale and local heroes driving change in their communities.
The speakers with whom we’ll have the privilege of spending the afternoon with include David Katz, the Founder and CEO of The Plastic Bank; David Cameron, Head of Innovation at The Next Big Thing, and Co-Founder of Radius Ventures; Matt Flannery, Co-Founder of kiva.org; Taylor Conroy, the Founder of Change Heroes; and Logan Graham, the Founder of UBC Social Enterprise Club, and Co-Founder of Yunus & Youth.
The chosen theme of the conference is “The Missing Piece”, which seeks to highlight the potential of social enterprise and innovation to progress humanity by solving the world’s most massive and pressing problems.
Are you ready to be come a Social Entrepreneur? Take a step further and challenge yourself to think critically about how you can innovatively effect change in issues that you care about and work under the mentorship of incredible change-makers.
UBC students from all faculties are welcome, regardless of whether you are new to the idea of social enterprise or are already deeply engaged in the field. In social innovation, diversity is key.
Of course, starting a revolution certainly doesn’t rule out having a good time. Head downtown with the team a couple of hours after the conference for an Afterparty. Party buses will be provided, of course. (19+ applicable only to Afterparty)
