Imagine your first bike ride, or even your first steps. What if that couldn’t happen? This is the reality for over one thousand children in BC. The Encompass Gala provides the opportunity for Vancouver to support these children and their families through an evening of great food and great company.

The Red Cross Student Movement (RCSM)’s annual gala will take place again in March this year, and all raised funds will go towards a BC-exclusive Red Cross program. Following last year’s successful gala, RCSM will be hosting the Encompass Gala in support of the Children’s Medical Equipment Recycling and Loan Service (CMERLS).

CMERLS supplies recycled, durable, and specialized medical and therapeutic equipment to children across British Columbia. Families who have children with special needs are provided long term loans of equipment to facilitate and enhance their child’s development.

“With the CMERLS equipment inventory therapists are often able to try a variety of different products at one time to see what works best,” said Patricia Barrett, the manager of CMERLS. “Families have access to a friendly voice to request repairs and verify loan inventory, and we can often quickly provide equipment to support at home care for a child that is  recovering from surgery or is palliative.”

Join us for a night of performances, entertainment, dinner, and networking. The event will feature performances from local artists, speakers from the Canadian Red Cross, and talks by pediatric therapists and leaders in the local community.
