Sustainable Cities: Choices and Consequences — The Importance of Good Urban Planning and Building Design
2055 Purcell Way
North Vancouver, British Columbia
Cities and urban living are a massive driver in today’s economy — to the tune of $350 trillion being spent on urban infrastructure and usage over the next 30 years — and are central to the conversation about sustainable planning in the communities where we live, work and play. As part of CannonDesign’s annual Environmental Awareness Week (EAW), we are proud to host former premier of British Columbia and full-time sustainability advocate Michael Harcourt for a presentation on Sustainable Cities: Choices and Consequences — The Importance of Good Urban Planning and Building Design. Mr. Harcourt’s background as a political figure and his involvement with forward-thinking organizations such as Quality Urban Energy Systems of Tomorrow (QUEST) and the Canadian Electricity Association’s Sustainable Electricity Program give him unique perspectives on how to use “patient persistence” to work with all levels of civic and local entities and effect real change in sustainability practices. Join us at the Nat and Flora Bosa Centre for Film and Animation at Capilano University on Thursday, October 29 from 9:30 to 11 am PDT to be part of this exciting conversation.
