The Strings That Bind Us: Maestro Amjad Ali Khan, Ayaan Ali Khan & Amaan Ali Khan in concert with Vancouver Symphony Orchestra violinist Jeanette Bernal-Singh.One of India’s greatest living musicians, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan is the unrivaled master of the sarod, a lute-like instrument, with nineteen fretless strings. In Khan’s hands, the sarod produces a rich palette of overtones mimicking the expressive range of the human voice, from slow, delicate meditations to furious improvisations. When accompanied by his two sons, Amaan Ali Khan and Ayaan Ali Khan, together they create a 57-string three-man symphony orchestra.

At this rare Vancouver performance, the Khans will be accompanied by noted tabla players Abhijit Bannerjee and Vineet Vyas, and perform a special collaboration with violinist Jeanette Bernal-Singh of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Expect an unforgettable evening.

“Amjad Ali Khan, who, for many, is god-like in his dramatic powers on the Sarod, delivered his music with the emotional voltage of the blues, and a flexible instrument line that was almost vocal in its expressiveness…” – The Herald
