On behalf of the Shakti team, we would like to take this opportunity to invite you to our community café addressing violence against women. We have held community cafes in the past to address this issue and to get the community engaged in conversations that we hope will bring about societal change at a personal level. This year, we want to continue the dialogue and education through community forums like our cafes.

While several organizations and individuals are doing tireless work to bring about change, 2014 has been very disheartening as we have seen an increased number of violent crimes against women reported in the media. Our first community café of the year is aimed at bringing organizations and community members together to talk about their challenges in this work and how we can become better organized to end violence against women. With this focus, we are calling our community café – ‘What is violence against women: Why should you care?’

It would be great to have you attend. Bring your ideas, your energy and your expertise.
