As far as Canadian University rivalries go, SFU vs UBC is one of the best. From academics to football, soccer and now hockey, these schools and their students hate to lose to one another. The University Hockey Classic began in 2011 with the underdog SFU taking the inaugural title. UBC evened the score when they were crowned 2012 champion, and now SFU returns with a bolstered lineup looking to take back their lead and earn bragging rights for the next 12 months.
Game 1 (UBC Home): Friday, September 27, 7 p.m. at Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Center (tickets sold at the door)
Game 2 (SFU Home): Saturday, September 28, 7 p.m. at Bill Copeland Sports Centre (tickets sold at the door or at www.sfuhockey.com)
The Format: The University Hockey Classic is a two-game series, decided by overtime and shootout if needed.
