Pacific Spirit Quest: Immersive Meditation Ecotour Adventure
11:00 am - 2:00 pm
1515 Discovery Street,
Come along on a Spirit Quest Adventure in beautiful Pacific Spirit Regional Park near UBC. On this fun ecotour you’ll get to learn about nature’s hidden powerhouse: the kingdom of fungi (prime season for fungi is right now), discover some amazing off-the-beaten-path spots and learn how to meditate so you can feel more immersed in the richness of your experience when you’re in nature.
We will meet at the Jericho Beach Hostel, then go explore the twin canyons in the rainforest near the Spanish Banks and continue around the Point Grey peninsula exploring the graffiti-covered WW2 gun turrets and the military barracks buried in the forest near Tower Beach.
After that, we’ll hike along the beach to Wreck Beach and explore the beautiful meadows and estuary to the southeast of the beach. The tour will end at UBC’s new Student Union Building with some rock climbing on their massive rock climbing wall.
On each of these Spirit Quest tours, you get to learn and practice immersive walking meditation. It involves anchoring your awareness in your breath and the feelings in your body so you can explore nature with deeper reverence and temporarily go beyond the judgments, comparison, labeling and analysis of your constantly thinking mind.
If you’ve always wanted to experience the amazing benefits of meditation but found that you struggled to maintain a practice, this immersive nature walking adventure will introduce you to a great active meditation technique that is easy and fun to do in nature. We usually do 2 10-minute sessions of meditative walking on the tour and the rest of the time you can just hang out and meet new people in a laid back clique-free environment.
This morning tour goes from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. We meet at the front doors of the Jericho Beach Hostel by the Jericho Sailing Club. Goes rain or shine. The tour is free.
