The Piece of Mind Art Exhibition’s opening reception is being held on May 4th, 6-830pm in the Alice McKay Room (lower level) of the Vancouver Public Library (West Georgia). The event includes a panel discussion at 7pm.Piece of Mind is a partnership event hosted by the British Columbia Psychological Association (BCPA) and the Vancouver Public Library. It is a national art exhibition that promotes psychological health, works to break the stigma surrounding psychological health, and hopes to inspire the community to live psychologically healthy lives. The selected thirty-five of over 100 submissions will be on display at the Vancouver Public Library from May 1st – 15th. This year’s theme is resilience, and all artists have expressed what psychological health means to them. The project aims to promote healthy coping and reinforce the importance of psychological health; while encouraging discussion within the community.
Also during this period (May 12 & 13, 6:30-8:30pm), there will be “Learn to Paint” workshops at the Library’s Mount Pleasant Branch. This introductory workshop is hosted by Piece of Mind artists who will discuss the positive impact of artistic expression and illustrate various painting techniques! The workshop is free (supplies included) but registration is required.
