Nicole Sumerlyn is a country singer/songwriter, or otherwise known to be called BC Countrys Little firecracker with the big hair. With two second ballot British Columbia Country Music Association nominations for The Ray Mculay Horizon Award and Music Video of the Year, Nicole has already been capturing eyes and ears of many, as well as creating a buzz in the songwriting community, working with writers nation wide. . With high-energy, enthusiastic, performances, and a rock edge, Sumelyn has been moulding her own unique sound.
Nicole Sumerlyn has recently released single Lets Get Country, produced by Talen Waver, which is currently available on iTunes, and aired on Internet radio. Further, Nicole had debuted the music video, directed by Gene Greenwood. The video supporting the single had later had been aired on the Heartland (NASHVILLE) TV Network. In May of 2015, Nicole Sumerlyn had been announced one of the winners of the Global Country Star Search in Edmonton AB, where she will be traveling to Nashville March of 2016.
Nicole had first been recognized at VIMBCs songwriting race, where she had been paired up with Jesse Mast and Doug Folkins creating “I'll Find You”. The song later had been recorded with CCMA award-winning producer Bill Buckingham at The Palace Studios. The song had received a great response from listeners, and was later aired on country radio. The same month where Nicole also had the honour of sharing the stage with Jesse Mast opening for Brett Kissel.
Later, on Nicole's first trip to Nashville, TN, she had the honour of playing various venues which included legendary venues such as the Commodore Grill and the BlueBird Cafe.
Country music has always had such a strong place in my heart mentions Nicole. From her early ages, Sumerlyn had been taking in the traditional sounds of legions such as Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash. With the influence from traditional country music, modern artists, such as Gretchen Wilson and Miranda Lambert, have an impact on Nicole.I have artists I look up too, but I really dont believe in being the next anybody. Nicoles musical background began with piano lessons and theatrical interest from attending an integrated arts elementary school. On her own, she later transposed sheet music to guitar chords, furthering her music. Around thirteen years old, Sumerlyn discovered her innate song writing skills capturing emotions and stories of real life experiences.Songwriting is like my first love. Nicole says. Its what made me choose this ride as a country artist. Theres just something amazing about shaping stories into lyrics, in such a raw, relatable way”
