New Works and Granville Island present: ALL OVER THE MAP. Free outdoor dance series on Granville Island, July 13 and 20, 2014. Join us for free dance performances at Ron Basford Park, featuring cultural traditions from Canada and around the world.

** Two performances per day 1:00 and 3:00pm at Ron Basford Park on Granville Island, the grassy hill beside Performance Works. In case of rain, shows move indoors.
July 13: Caudillos del Sur
Mexican Folkloric Ballet
Born in Vancouver in 2013, Caudillos del Sur Mexican Ballet aims to represent and preserve Mexican dance and music culture in Canada.
With impeccable technique, beautiful style, and strong ‘zapateado’ (stomping footwork), Caudillos del Sur Ballet presents colourful choreographies that narrate various aspects of Mexican history in all of its glory.

Lil’Wat Nation Hoop Dancer
The Hoop Dance is a magical story of the creation of life, and is one of the most difficult and advanced dance styles. Alex Wells is a member of the Lil’wat Nation from Mount Currie BC. He is a three-time World Champion Hoop Dancer and an outstanding teacher of traditional values. Alex gives the performance of a lifetime displaying the art of the hoop dance using up to 22 hoops.
