Which day of the year has the longest night? The Winter Solstice! Join us on Saturday, December 19, between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm for the Longest Night celebrations at the Richmond Nature Park. Create lanterns to light up the night sky, and write your wishes on paper then toss them in the fire to set them free. Decorate a wildlife tree and help our birds survive the cold winter. Enjoy storytelling, face painting, and seasonal crafts then join the Frost Fairy for a lantern lit walk through the winter woods. Take home a festive evergreen swag for your door. The Winter Solstice, on December 22, marks the day with the fewest daylight hours and longest night of the year. After Winter Solstice, there are more hours of daylight each day until the longest day of the year on the Summer Solstice.
Admission is by donation. Proceeds support the Richmond Nature Park Society’s environmental education programs.
