The festival’s outdoor stage will open for this 26th edition to the irresistible rhythms of the Dylan Perron et Élixir de Gumbo project. Winner of the 2015 Francouvertes, contest in Montreal, Dylan Perron et Élixir de Gumbo is a delightful blend of bluegrass, folk and rhythmic blues played on harmonica, double bass, banjo, mandolin and other instruments. With over 200 performances across Canada, France and Switzerland, these artists who hail from Abitibi-Témiscamingue, a region of Quebec’s Northwest, launched in 2014 their first album “Hamérricana”. They promise to get the evening started with a high-voltage performance.

Karim Ouellet
A sure-fire hit with festival-goers in the second half of the evening concert, pop singer-songwriter-composer Karim Ouellet is a versatile artist and DJ, whose masterful fusion of different musical genres runs the gamut of electro, reggae, rock, and soul, all with grace and abandon. He is acclaimed by his own generation for his lyrics, and his compositions and arrangements have won over fans in Canada and France. Originally from Dakar in Senegal, Karim Ouellet lives in Quebec, where he grew up. The Vancouver Festival d’été francophone is proud to present this talented artist in his first-time appearance on stage in British Columbia. This polyglot artist who knows no borders has hit the bull’s eye at the very heart of new francophone vocal music, with more than 200 concerts throughout the francophone world, performing alongside artists like Stromae and OneRepublic. He won the 2014 JUNO award for “Best francophone album of the year”, received seven ADISQ nominations including the 2014 nomination in the category “Quebec artist most recognised outside Quebec” alongside Céline Dion and Arcade Fire, won the 2013 Félix-Leclerc Award for his song “L’amour” and was named as the 2012-2013 CBC Radio-Canada Discovery of the Year.

Alex Nevsky
The festival continues to showcase and promote the quintessence of today’s francophone vocal talents with a performance by Alex Nevsky. His latest album “Himalaya mon amour” is all the rage in Quebec, equally acclaimed by audiences and critics. In his first performance on the West Coast, he will take the stage in the third part of the evening, bringing us his second album of high-wire pop-rock electronic grooves that will thrill festival goers and make them want to dance. “Himalaya mon amour” has already brought Alex Nevsky a 2014 Juno nomination in the category “Best francophone album of the year”, as well as three of the most prestigious trophies at the 2014 Quebec Music Industry Gala: “Album of the year – pop”, “Male vocalist of the year” and “Best song of the year” for “On leur a fait croire”. In addition, the first two cuts of his album, “On leur a fait croire”, and “Coloriage”, hit the top of the charts on Canada’s francophone radio stations, and were even picked up by well-known brands in their advertising campaigns.
