Holi is an ancient Hindu festival that celebrates the arrival of Spring with symbolic bonfires, paint throwing, and the sharing of traditional foods. Parts of the festival have been culturally appropriated in North America over the last few years, and Kyla wanted to try to show the significance of the festival for people on the other side of the world.Kyla is a professional photographer based in East Vancouver. In addition to travel photography, she also works at the UBC Museum of Anthropology running the digitization studio. “My experiences with my work and my travels have given me insight into this beautiful,

interwoven human story that I feel so deeply it is written in my
bones”.
