Great Opera Duets
7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Verdi is well known for his great father daughter duets, but when it comes to the father/daughter relationships in Verdi, “Father doesn’t know best!” Each father figure sets up a chain of events that end in the eventual death and demise of the heroine. We are presenting the three duets from Rigoletto, the duet from Aida, in which her father commands her to use her seductive skill to convince Radames to commit treason, and the duet from La Traviata, where Violetta is rejected by her potential father-in-law.
To round out the evening we have added a couple of great love duets the Nedda/Silvio duet from I Pagliacci, and Bess you is my woman now, from Porgy and Bess. These duets also lead to the demise of the sopranos. Hmmm, maybe it’s not fathers we sopranos need to be wary of, perhaps it’s baritones.
Also check out our new Cinderella Ticket Program.
