Early Music Vancouver, in partnership with the Portland Baroque Orchestra, Early Music Guild of Seattle and Victoria’s Early Music Society of the Islands, presents Festive Cantatas – Praetorius Christmas Vespers, December 20, 2015 at 3pm at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts. This soaring concert features the work of Michael Praetorius – among the most prolific of Early German Baroque composers – with musical direction from David Fallis. Thirteen vocal soloists specializing in 17th century music from across North America will unite with a string band, cornetto and sackbut players, three theorbo players, multiple keyboardists and Vancouver’s own Laudate Chamber Singers to recreate the joyful celebration of a Christmas Vespers service as it might have been performed in a 17th century German Church. To further the spirit of early music traditions, audience members will be invited to sing-a-long to a few select and well-known Christmas carols.

Tickets from $17.50 available at earlymusic.bc.ca
