Feature Friday Night Race Series
7:00 pm - 10:30 pm
7564 Barnet Rd
Our second of four Feature Friday Night Races presented by Livestock and Incase. The racing is meant to highlight the very best of track cycling; a showcase of the diversity that makes this sport great.
The night’s feature event will be a 2km Wheelrace, a race where weaker riders are afforded a “handicap” over the strongest riders. If all goes well it’ll be one heck of a sprint to the finish.
Categories for the night include: A grade, B grade, women, youth men and youth women. In the A’s, B’s, and women’s categories Kyle Buck, Devan McClelland, and Claire Cameron will be back to defend their respective leads and their claim to the leader’s jersey. They’ll have their work cut out for them if they’re to hang on to the lead for another three events. Meanwhile our youth men and youth women will take to the track for the first time to establish their claim to the prize.
What spectacle would be complete without great food, great drinks, and great music? At each of our Feature Friday Nights we’ll also showcase one of the regions finest micro breweries in our beer garden. On tap next is Coal Harbor Brewing Company! If you came to our first event be sure you bring your Beer Passport. Another stamp means you’re that much closer to the commemorative pint glass!
In addition we’ll have a food truck on hand providing delicious food. Last time it was Fresh Local Wild on hand serving out their famous seafood poutine and generously portioned fish and chips. Just in case that wasn’t enough we’ll also have coffee on hand provided by Musette Caffe.
And, we’re happy to announce that tunes will be provided by the DJ Trike!
Rounding out the evening we’ll also pay tribute to a fallen friend. The BVC in cooperation with Cycling BC have pooled together to create a commemorative plaque honoring the memory of Jeremy Storie, join us for the grand unveiling.
What are you waiting for, invite your friends and come out to the velodrome, one of only two indoor tracks in the country we might add.
Admission is $5 for adults, kids 12 and under are free!
Overflow parking is available at the Mountain Air Bike Park parking lot. When our lot fills up we’ll be running a shuttle from the bike bark to the Burnaby Velodrome Club.
