Fillip presents an evening of experimental music and video by Monty Cantsin (Gabriel Saloman), Gretchen Snakes, and Robert Filliou, in conjunction with the introduction of a new Fillip website (online March 6) and the online publication of Ken Becker’s essay “Not Just Some Canadian Hippie Bullshit: The Western Front as Artists’ Practice.”Monty Cantsin (Gabriel Saloman) resurfaces for a one-off performance of a new composition, alongside a set from noise/drone act Gretchen Snakes. The night also revisits the Western Front’s role in the Eternal Network, as conceived by Fluxus artists in the 1960s, through screenings of Robert Filliou’s 1970s artist-in-residence performances—shown in the site of their creation, the Grand Luxe Hall.
