The public is invited to attend a book signing and talk by award-winning Canadian playwright, author, columnist, filmmaker and lecturer, Drew Hayden Taylor.
Drew will entertain and enlighten with a talk about Native humour entitled “White Water Canoeing Down the River of Aboriginal Humour” at a reception hosted by Decoda Literacy Foundation.
An Ojibway from the Curve Lake First Nations in Ontario, Drew has worn many hats in his literary career, from performing stand-up comedy at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., to being Artistic Director of Canada’s premiere Native theatre company, Native Earth Performing Arts. He has been an award-winning playwright, a journalist, short-story writer, novelist, television scriptwriter, and has worked on over 17 documentaries exploring the Native experience. He also wrote and directed Redskins, Tricksters, And Puppy Stew, a documentary on Native humour for the National Film Board of Canada.
Copies of Drew’s latest book, Me Artsy, which examines the aboriginal artistic spirit, will be available for purchase at the pre-talk reception.
