The Live Agency Presents;

Born and raised in King City, ON, David wrote his first song at just 8 years old. Performing it to his Mother and Sister later that day, it was a sign of things to come for the Canadian Singer/songwriter. “I actually wanted to be an Author at a very young age, I wrote stories and read a lot as a kid. I had an insane imagination, and still do.” At 12 yrs old, he wrote his second song, this time performing it at school in front of his Grade 6 class. “I wrote a song for a school assignment, the teacher liked it, next thing you know I'm up performing it in front of the class on this out of tune acoustic. it had 2 strings missing and I'm just singing and thrashing away. That was interesting an interesting day.” It wasn't until David was 17 when he finally decided to learn how to play guitar. “It took me a long time before I finally decided to learn to play. But, I'm blessed because when I did decide to learn, it came very naturally to me. I was able to teach myself to play, which I'm grateful for because the unique habits I developed then, have become part of my style today.” He credits Dave Matthews Band as being big influences for him early on, along with artists such as John Mayor, Jonny Lang and Neil Young. “I really liked Neil Young, and Dave Matthews especially. There was something about their music/songs/lyrics, it just got to me. Inspired me.” For the next two years, David wrote songs, traveled with his guitar (living in Perth, Australia briefly). In 2009, at the age of 19, he moved to Toronto, ON. “I needed to learn how to perform, learn how to sing, figure out how to put it all together and get it out there. I still had no idea what I was doing when it came to performing my music. That's what Toronto was for me, it was a lot of just learning my craft. Learning how to be a performer. A good one. I was a lot worse than I thought I was going to be in the beginning, it wasn't easy. I sucked.” For the next few years, david played at open mics, bars, pubs, busked on the street and continued to write songs, such as “Where I Belong” and “Angel”, which you can listen to on the upcoming “Strive EP” or check out on his YouTube Channel “David Alexander Music”. Currently David is playing on the West Coast. Follow and check back for more updates on upcoming tour dates/shows in your area.
