The Roxy Cabaret Presents Dave Hartney with special guests Peter James Band.
Influenced by modern guitar-slinging country superstars, to classic rockers like Tom Petty, Daves sound is a mix of country and southern rock. Though born and raised in North Vancouver, it was nights out in small town honky-tonks and a five-year stint at the University of Saskatchewan that focused his passion and sights on country.
Hartney spent several years in a duo-fronted band before stepping out as a solo artist in 2014. Hartney's songwriting in that earlier project resulted in several radio singles and a Songwriters' Cafe Showcase at the Canadian Country Music Association's Country Music Week in 2009. Since then Dave has performed across the country, including opening performances for Dierks Bentley, Jerrod Neimann, Thompson Square, as well as local Canadian acts Aaron Pritchett and Dallas Smith. Dave has also been known to play guitar for industry friends Karen Lee Batten, Damian Marshall, and Bobbi Smith.
Dave has finished recording several new singles with producer John Ellis for release in 2015. Stay tuned and thanks for stopping by.
You know that old saying you can take the boy out of the country but you cant take the country out of the boy? Well it rings true in more ways than one for Country music singer and songwriter Peter James.
James grew up in the small towns of Maple Ridge and Mission, BC surrounded by mountains, lakes and streams. James filled his days with good old-fashioned backcountry fun, helping his dad around the farm and playing music.
He started playing the drums in grade 4 and soon after, was studying classical piano.
By the age of 13, James was composing and writing songs. By the age of 19 James placed some ads in the paper for musicians for hire and formed the Peter James Band and hit the road.
After 15 years of playing in Top 40 cover bands all over the world, James has returned to his BC roots and is ready to release his debut Country music album.
