Dance Allsorts – Meredith Kalaman & Deanna Peters
2:00 pm - 4:30 pm
181 Roundhouse Mews
New Works presents a mixed program of contemporary dance featuring choreographies by Vancouver-based artists Meredith Kalaman and Deanna Peters, part of its ‘Dance Allsorts’ 14/15 Season. The performance takes place at 2pm, with a workshop with Deanna Peters to follow.Peters’ most recent production ‘Cut Away’ features Barbara Bourget, Kim Sato, Deanna Peters and Elissa Hanson. Blending their histories in Butoh, hip hop and contemporary dance, they navigate how to move together, creating countless combinations that reveal where they overlap and where they diverge. Kalaman’s ‘Ruminate’ is a duet in collaboration with Arash Khakpour. The piece was inspired by videos of giraffes violently thrashing their necks in combat and expresses the desire to dominate another being by means of physical force.
‘Dance Allsorts’ is Vancouver’s most eclectic and inspiring performance and workshop series, now in its 17th season, ‘Dance Allsorts’ introduces all sorts of dance to all sorts of people. New Works collaborates with some of the most talented dancers, choreographers and musicians in Vancouver to present dance that is inspiring, unpredictable and captivating.
The January edition of ‘Dance Allsorts’ is a co-production of New Works, the Roundhouse Arts & Recreation Centre and Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation.
