MLA for Vancouver-Fairview, and Opposition Spokesperson for Translink, George Heyman will joined by Bahareh Jokar, Denise Taschereau and Ben West to discuss the upcoming vote on transportation in Metro Vancouver. Audience participation is encouraged – please come with questions you have about the plebiscite and what the Mayors’ Council Plan means for the area in which you live, work and play.
About the guests:
Bahareh Jokar is the Vice-President External at the Alma Mater Society, chair of Get-On-Board B.C., and cochair for the Alliance of BC Students. Her work focuses on advocating for student issues to different levels of government, while ensuring that students are informed and engaged during elections.
Denise Taschereau is cofounder and CEO of Fairware, a business in Fairview, and has a Masters of Resource and Environmental Management from Simon Fraser University. Denise has an extensive history working in environmental stewardship and has a passion for bikes and sustainable transportation.
Ben West is a campaign director at ForestEthics and has been a champion for environmental protection and advocacy. Ben was described as a “splendid orator” by the Georgia Straight newspaper, is madly in love with the wild places in BC and he is passionate about learning from and working with the Indigenous people of the region.
