COMMUNITY
A photo essay on makers by Andrea Fernandez

“To create a viable community is a triumph. It is not just the development and integration of social institutions, cooperative culture patterns, and an ethos of caring and sharing; it is a victory of human imagination, resilience, and hope.”
Suzanne Keller

COMMUNITY is a photo essay by photographer Andrea Fernandez, delving into notions of social groups and interactions through highlighting a small group of makers in the city. It aims to show the amazing work being done in our backyards and the drive in young professionals to not conform to what is expected of them, while breaking the boundaries and misconceptions of young people creating their own paths and making their passions a lifestyle, at the same time as building nourishing connections and tying the community closer.

“Local communities are both the site of people’s life gratifications and the only arena in which most citizens can take any meaningful action”
Logan & Molotch
