The City Soul Choir and music director Brian Tate present classic Motown and more with TAKE ME TO THE RIVER, featuring iconic songs about rivers and railroads. Get your groove on with Jimmy Cliff’s ‘Many Rivers to Cross’, Curtis Mayfield’s ‘People Get Ready’, Al Green’s ‘Take Me to the River’, Aretha Franklin’s cover of ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’, the great Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell hit ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’, Ike and Tina Turner’s version of ‘Proud Mary’, Tate’s sublime new choir arrangement of ‘Shenandoah’, and more.
With Michael Creber on piano, Bill Sample on keys spinning out Hammond B3 grooves, Brent Gubbels on bass, and Craig Scott on drums. Plus a special appearance by vocal quartet What It Is, performing Sam Cooke’s classic ‘A Change is Gonna Come.’
