Ben Klick – The Guitar Pickin' Country Gentleman
Talent, commitment, sacrifice, and attitude are four words that Kelowna, British Columbia based artist, Ben Klick, lives by. Klick has established himself as a guitar slinging, unique and interactive country music musician.
In recent years, finishing the recording of and releasing a debut EP back in May, 2014, his songs have been added to the Emerging Artist categories of local radio stations around the Okanagan. Ben shares, “I write about what is true to me, friends, and family. Without them, I wouldnt be where I am today. Im extremely thankful and very blessed to have people in my life who believe in me, and are behind my every move each step of the way.”
Klick has been to and plans to revisit various country music capitals of the world, the most famous being Music City, Nashville, Tennessee. Performing at the well known Tootsies Orchid Lounge, Commodore Grill, and playing guitar on the Ryman Auditorium stage, the passion and dedication is only becoming stronger. Ben has attended the British Columbia Country Music Awards (BCCMAs), the Canadian Country Music Awards (CCMAs), received a 2013 Civic and Community Award Nomination, and a 2014 Okanagan Arts Award. This British Columbia, Canadian born artist has a strong work ethic and drive to be a force in the Country Music Scene.
When Ben is not writing and performing, his spare time is used learning about the industry, and taking college courses to help guide him along his path. Bens love for music and guitars has driven him to learn about producing and recording, as well as building the six string instruments by constructing three guitars and a ukulele in recent years. “Playing guitar has always been my passion from a young age,” explains Klick, “and it allows me to express myself. When I build guitars, I get to put my own creativity into the construction of them, which contributes to my sound and how I play”.
“In my line of work I listen to hundreds of songs per week, so believe me when I say it takes a lot to stop me in my tracks. Ben Klick did just that. Ben possesses a talent for guitar that would be wowing at any age. The fact that he is only 18 speaks volumes to his overall potential. There is no doubt in my mind that Ben Klick has the talent and the passion to take his music career anywhere he'd like it to go.” – Roo Phelps, Morning Co-host and Music Director, Country 100.7 FM.
With country and folk at his roots, and a big place in his heart for music, Ben Klick is truly a “Guitar Pickin' Country Gentleman.”
You know that old saying you can take the boy out of the country but you cant take the country out of the boy? Well it rings true in more ways than one for Country music singer and songwriter Peter James.
James grew up in the small towns of Maple Ridge and Mission, BC surrounded by mountains, lakes and streams. James filled his days with good old-fashioned backcountry fun, helping his dad around the farm and playing music.
PETER JAMES BAND
He started playing the drums in grade 4 and soon after, was studying classical piano.
By the age of 13, James was composing and writing songs. By the age of 19 James placed some ads in the paper for musicians for hire and formed the Peter James Band and hit the road.
After 15 years of playing in Top 40 cover bands all over the world, James has returned to his BC roots and is ready to release his debut Country music album.
Singer/songwriter Shylo Sharity was raised in a suburb of Vancouver British Columbia and began her musical journey and first public performance at the age of 5.
Meghan Trainor, The Guess Whos Randy Bachman, Faber Drives Dave Faber, Mother Mothers Ryan Guldemond, Gavin Brown, and Zubin Thakkar are just a few of the incredible artists that Shylo Sharity has collaborated with and for this bright new Canadian talent, it is only the beginning.
Shylo began voice lessons at the age of 7 and proceeded to collect numerous vocal awards in her youth, but the turning point was winning British Columbias province-wide contest Variety's Got Talent in 2011, landing her an interview and performance on Global TV as well as going on to open for international country stars Wynonna Judd and Dierks Bentley. Since then Shylo has continued to gain recognition, winning 1st place in the duo category as well as top 10 in the solo female category in Simon Cowells worldwide online talent competition, The YOU Generation. Shylo also placed in the top 10 of the Canada wide MuchMusic Covers competition. More recently, Shylo was featured on a single with French band Never June and was once again, featured on an EDM single Brace Yourself, co-written with Bryn Liedl and produced and released by Pyramid Recordings in Australia.
Shylos aspirations have always been in the entertainment business, having appeared in several commercials, TV shows, and films. Shylo even scored a supporting role in the TV movie The School of Life starring Ryan Reynolds as well as the feature-length film Door to Door with William H. Macy and Kyra Sedgwick. Not to mention a singing role on the show Dead Zone. Shylos latest achievements are hosting the TV show City Lights on Novus TV, booking the lead in the musical theatre production Sisters oh Mercy at the Boomtown Casino in New Orleans and also becoming the singing voice of Aria Blaze on My Little Pony.
When asked about her style, Shylo compares her sound as a mix of pop-icon Katy Perry meets Lana Del Rey, with an underlying influence of Taylor Swift at times when blending classic pop melodies with an intimate acoustic sound. Shyos music can best be described as Indie/pop Country with an edge.
