Store Openings

Last weekend CB2 opened its first western Canadian location and only 2nd in Canada (the other one opened up earlier in Toronto this year) on Vancouver’s Robson Street. Crystal, our managing editor, attended the store opening and snapped a few photos. I happened to check it out this weekend as well and I definitely see it as a place where a lot of my money will be spent sprucing my condo. I also see it as a great addition to Robson Street as it has the ability to pull more shoppers past Bute Street.

Here’s a little update on Robson Street happenings. A sign outside the new J.Crew states that they will be opening late April 2012. It’s located at the old Tommy Hilfiger location next to Banana Republic. This is just one of the many changes coming to Robson Street. It will look very different come summertime.

The corner of Robson and Granville is about to change as demolition is currently underway at the old Granville Optical building. The new building, designed by MCM architects, will be five storey’s, containing two storeys of retail and three storey’s of office space. 

Ever since it was announced that HMV on Robson Street was closing its doors for good, rumours started circulated as to what retail chain will take over what is arguably the city’s highest profile retail location. Speculation has been running rampant from luxury auto dealers to high end furniture stores. Well, all those rumours can be put to rest as soon an announcement will be made soon and it looks as though that an Urban Outfitters flagship store is the front runner to take that spot, although it is not 100% at press time.

CB2 is one of the newest home furnishing stores that will be coming in Vancouver opening on February 18th. As the second CB2 in Canada, it’s home will be in the newly renovated Pacific Palisades space at Robson and Jervis. As Crate and Barrel’s (opening it’s first Vancouver store in Oakridge) younger, more hip sister company, CB2 is “affordable modern for apartment, loft, home”. It even has a cooler name!

Vancouver will be getting its first LEGO store, the fourth to open up in Canada. According to the Oakridge Centre website, the store is slated to open sometime in the Spring of 2012. It will be located in the West Galleria, next to Safeway. Fans young and old will be in LEGO heaven as you’ll find anything and everything to do with LEGO  here. No more hunting for your Star Wars LEGO fix.
