As a slow summer approaches us Vancouverites, we are preparing ourselves for the sun, warm weather, and beach appropriate attire.  Around the world the sun is already shining and we are getting a fresh look into what is going to be “in” for summer. As we all love to browse through magazines to find that perfect swimsuit to suit our type of body, its hard when all you see are stick thin models and realistically there are a handful of us that do not look like Victoria Secret models, or any type of that model. After 32 years of business the Book Warehouse will be closing their doors for good. So are book stores facing the same obsolescence as music stores and theatres? Did the Kindle and iPad take away that many hard copy readers? Or is this more a symptom of high rents and not enough sales as Chapters seems to be the go to place for most?

IKEA is known for as the go-to spot for beautifying spaces but this spring, their Richmond store sees all the action. On April 25, 2012 IKEA’s new 334,000 square foot (slightly larger than the store in Coquitlam) Richmond store will open, offering over 9,000 products and showcasing 51 inspirational room settings. Located on Jacombs Road, adjacent to the current location (which closes April 22), the new IKEA will include a 600+ seat restaurant, over 1,400 parking spaces and 100 bicycle racks.
