The 8th Annual Vancouver International Burlesque Festival has come to a close. With hundreds of hours and hard work from the festivals’ board of directors, performers, photographers and talented technicians, VIBF delivered one of Vancouver’s most diverse and seductive shows of 2013. Here are some of the beautiful stage moments that inspired and captivated theatre-goers.

It is the May long weekend and that means the Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair in Surrey! If you’ve enjoyed the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE), you will want to make it to Surrey. It truly is unique and country fun within a rural setting in the heart of Cloverdale. So many activities, exhibits and festivities to choose from for your $10 admission fee. The fair appeals to all ages and families.

It’s the long weekend and if you love barbecue, the Cloverdale Rodeo & Country Fair is a must destination.

The arts and cultural community is facing a very significant blow with the sale of The Centre for the Performing Arts to Westside Church. The 1,800-seat theatre located across the street from Vancouver Public Library’s Central Branch has been the home of many events, concerts, musicals, and festivals. All bookings August onwards have been canceled with the evangelical church taking ownership, sending event organizers scrambling to find a new venue. This also includes the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF), which had planned on screening three films a day at the theatre throughout its 16-day run this fall.

The much-anticipated, revamped Vancouver Chinatown Night Market is ready to launch its 2013 season officially on June 1st.* After 17 years at the helm, the VCMA have welcomed a new group of volunteers to the project in order to “help give the Night Market a fresh look and feel,” said Henry Tom, VP of the VCMA and Chair of the Night Market Committee.

This Memorial Day weekend Vancity Buzz will be bringing you coverage from the Gorge Amphitheatre in eastern Washington at the 12^th annual Sasquatch Music Festival. This year’s must-hit summer festival draws an eclectic range of musicians and comedians to its five stages including Mumford and Sons, Sigur Ros, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, the Lumineers, and the Postal Service.

Hockey Night in Canada’s Play On! is Canada’s official street hockey tournament and largest sports festival in the country, and it’s coming to Vancouver! Vancity Buzz is proud to be a media partner of the festival happening on Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9 at Coquitlam Centre.

On May 15, 2013, Vancouver+Acumen will host its 3rd annual DIGNITY Vancouver event at the Electric Owl in Vancouver.
