Invisible Children, the nonprofit organization founded by 3 young filmmakers after a visit to Uganda in 2003 is the talk of the internet today. Vancouver will be doing its part on April 20, 2012 from 8pm to 4am at the Vancouver Art Gallery. It’s part of an international campaign to make Joseph Kony famous not to celebrate him, but to raise support for his arrest and set a precedent for international justice. Lewis Bennett’s second installment of his 12-month plan of producing a monthly short film follows Ray Parkes on “Parrot Island” (Peachland, BC). Ray runs a parrot sanctuary with his wife Valerie and a few volunteers. The facility is called Parrot Island. It was set up to take care of abandoned parrots and to help educate the public on why we shouldn’t be buying these birds.

A visitor to our fair city Thomas Stratmann filmed his whole stay in over 600 clips and produced a music video from the footage. The little movie is the official music video of “The Very First Teenager”, an electro DJ duo from Hamburg (the town in Germany where he studied).

The second season of HBO’s hit series “Game of Thrones” has everyone excited, even the writers over at FOX who came up with a brilliant Simpsonfied intro this past weekend. Winter is almost here.

Max Payne 3, developed by Rockstar Vancouver,  is one of the most anticipated games of the year. Judging by the latest trailer it seems like the wait for the third installment will be well worth it. The second trailer reveals more of the game’s story, beginning with the kidnapping of Rodrigo Branco’s beautiful young wife, Fabiana, while under Max’s protection. Max has to uncover the truth and return her to safety amidst a treacherous web of lawless street gangs, ruthless paramilitary units and his own personal demons.
