We had a big Cascadia crew out for the amazing Gabriel & Dresden show Friday night at Celebrities and we thoroughly enjoyed it. These guys have been producing and DJing together for over a decade (with a 2 year split in between) and their experience really showed in their performance.

Said The Whale, with the likes of Hey Ocean, Mother Mother and Dan Mangan, is one of the most recognized bands in the Vancouver Indie scene. I first took wind of them during the Olympics when they played numerous shows around the Lower Mainland. From then on they have infiltrated the local scene by playing secret shows, getting regular play on The Peak and coming in 2nd in The Peak Performance Project, leaving with $75,000. Like all great bands, they inevitably outgrew their local scene and ventured out to get attention on a grander scale.

If you are a fan of trance or any other form of melodic dance music, the name Gabriel & Dresden shouldn’t be new to you. Josh Gabriel and Dave Dresden hail from Holland and the United States, and have been a major force in dance music for over a decade now. Stereotype Friday’s at Celebrities is arguably the most popular weekly dance music night in the city and we are expecting a hell of a show from these two. 

In commemoration of Valentines Day, Vancouver’s Boombox Saints  released the brand new video for “The Break Up Song”. I suggest you check out the Eastvan trio  latest EP “Bringin’ The Boom Back: Based On A True Story”, which was released last year.
