Whistler’s third annual Great Outdoors Festival (GO Fest) is slated for the May long weekend, offering four days of the mountain town’s best outdoor activities and products.

GO Fest offers attendees the opportunity to experience the best of Whistler during the month when summer and winter converge. From May 20 to 23, you’ll be able to slide on snow, golf, ride a bike, and enjoy water sports all within a single day.

This year’s schedule is jam-packed with an infusion of different events related to arts and culture, music, clinics, and even sports. Choose between fun drop-in, low fee activities, including ping pong, vinyasa yoga, an all British car show, snow sliding, golf, cycling, water sports, and much more.

Check out Tourism Whistler’s website to learn more about all the awesome activities you can experience.

“I’m thrilled with this year’s return of GO Fest to celebrate such an electrifying time of year,” Whistler mayor Nancy Wilhelm-Morden said in a release. “There is a long-standing joke in Whistler that the challenge with May is deciding what to do first, and GO Fest certainly takes that idea and runs with it. This event has become an anchor of the festival and events calendar in Whistler and provides an excellent bridge between the summer and winter seasons.”

A free concert series on the Main Stage in Village Square is scheduled for each night of the festival, which is said to play to the mind, heart, and body. Performers include:

  • Friday – Dan Mangan, two-time JUNO and Polar Music Prize winner
  • Saturday – Alex Cuba, Grammy Award nominee
  • Sunday – The Matinee, alternative folk rockers

The event makes for an excellent mini-vacay, an added plus being its close proximity to Vancouver and an affordable alternative to visiting the U.S. with the status of the Canadian loonie. All activities are paired with the beautiful backdrop of Whistler’s mountains and Mother Nature’s beauty. Just check out Tourism Whistler for a large menu of accommodation options. Choose from a luxury hotel like The Fairmont Chateau Whistler or a rustic chalet at Falcon’s Nest Estate, perfect for bringing your best friends, family, or significant other.
