You may fancy taking a dip on Victoria Day, but stay out of Trout Lake – the latest tests shows E.coli bacteria in the water have gone beyond safe levels.

Vancouver Coastal Health report dated May 19 details the results of water testing around the region, and Trout Lake, in John Hendry Park, comes out by far the worst.

The tests show there are 225 E.coli bacteria per 100 ml of water in Trout Lake, exceeding the maximum safe level of 200 E.coli bacteria per 100 ml of water.

As such, Trout Lake was closed for swimming and wading on Wednesday.

E.coli is an indicator organism associated with fecal contamination from humans and animals.
