No charges will be recommended after a suspicious incident involving a locked downtown store temporarily closed a portion of Robson Street last week.
The incident occurred at around noon on Friday, May 20, when someone called 9-1-1 after they observed a foot behind the counter inside a locked business on Robson near Hamilton Street. When officers arrived, they observed a naked woman and at least one man walking around inside the shop.
The strange and suspicious circumstances, along with the refusal of those inside to unlock the door and speak with officers, triggered a large police response which temporarily closed Robson Street between Homer and Hamilton.
After attending the scene, officers were able to take two men and one woman into custody. The woman was subsequently taken to hospital for observation, while the two men were brought to VPD headquarters, interviewed, and then released pending further investigation.
VPD said in a press release that detectives executed a warrant to search the business and obtained video footage from within the office along with a number of exhibits associated to the incident. But, after examining the video and speaking with the three people involved, investigators have completed their review of the incident and there is no evidence to support criminal charges.
