Luca Sbisa has been named to Team Europe’s roster for the World Cup of Hockey, which takes place this September in Toronto.
Team Europe is comprised of the best European players not from Russia, Sweden, Finland, or the Czech Republic. For many of these players, this tournament will mark the best chance they’ve ever had at winning in international competition.
Sbisa was one of seven players who were named to Europe’s roster on Friday. The first 16 players were named for Team Europe back in March. Other players named today include Thomas Greiss (New York Islanders), Christian Ehrhoff (Chicago Blackhawks), Pierre-Edouard Bellemare (Philadelphia Flyers), Marian Gaborik (Los Angeles Kings), Nino Niederreiter (Minnesota Wild), and Tobias Rieder (Arizona Coyotes).

Sbisa, who usually plays internationally for Switzerland, will join his Canucks teammate Jannik Hansen (Denmark) on the European team. Daniel Sedin, Henrik Sedin, and Jacob Markstrom will also participate in the tournament, playing for Team Sweden.
