Burnaby’s Hats Off Day is set to hit the city for its 32nd year on Saturday, June 4, and is expected to attract more than 60,000 visitors.

This annual event is a chance for merchants in The Heights to give back to the community by taking their hats off to customers with a colourful parade and street party.

The day starts with a pancake breakfast at 8:30 a.m., then a Family Fun Dash at 9:30 a.m. before festivities begin at 10 a.m. Boundary Road all the way down to Gamma Avenue will be closed to traffic, and each block will have something exciting and unique to offer including a classic car show hosted by Marilyn and Elvis from the Iconic Tributes.

“There is really something for everyone at Hats Off Day,” says host of the event Isabel Kolic. “From kids’ activities, to amazing authentic ethnic food, to live music and exciting performances, you’ll find it here. But the nicest part is the true feeling of community. Hats Off Day is a grassroots festival at its very best.”

Performers will wander the streets playing steel drums and keep an eye out for performances by Juno award-winning jazz musician Gabriel Hasselbach.

Given the theme of the day – the jungle – you can even expect appearances from Tarzan and Indiana Jones.
