The Flying Beaver

One of Metro Vancouver’s most unique patio spaces, the view from a seat outside at the Flying Beaver accords diners and drinkers a view of seaplanes taking off and landing on the Middle Arm of the mighty Fraser–a very Vancouver-y thing.

Tapenade Bistro

Steveston’s Tapenade is a casual but chic spot in the area with a lot of charm. Head over for their “Tappy Hour” (3 to 5 p.m.) and soak up some sun on their cozy patio, which they’ve filled with homey touches like mason jar candles and greenery.

Blue Canoe Waterfront Restaurant

Blue Canoe in Steveston is well-known for its patio, which in 2015 was named on OpenTable’s ranking of Canada’s 100 best patios. Check out their menu of seafood-centric eats and enjoy some prime patio time.

Milltown Bar & Grill

The charming patio of this vibrant red building is a welcoming spot in warm weather. Milltown Bar & Grill is situated in a rather unique spot–it’s on the North Arm of the Fraser at the Milltown, and technically Richmond, though they want you to feel like you’re in Vancouver’s storied Marpole neighbourhood.

Pier 73

Pier 73, the restaurant at Richmond’s Pacific Gateway Hotel, is situated right on the Fraser River. While anytime of year offers a lovely view thanks to their floor-to-ceiling windows, come the warm weather, their deck opens up and creates a great spot to relax, eat, drink, and enjoy the sights.

Harold’s Bistro

Harold’s at the Sheraton in Richmond is not only named for a long-time loyal customer, but also is home to one of the community’s favourite patios. Open seasonally, Harold’s Bistro patio hours are Sunday to Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and  Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Pajo’s Fish & Chips

It’s hard to imagine letting the summer go by without a visit to Pajo’s right on the water for some yummy fish and chips. It’s their location right on the wharf in Steveston that’s got the incredible outdoor seating; the restaurant is floating on the Fraser!
