With a row of flower boxes and sun umbrellas, Social Corner’s patio encourages patrons to enjoy an al fresco meal, accompanied by a drink or two.

Say what you will about the Vegas-like vibe of the swanky downtown multi-level Glowbal, but this patio is a terrific place to be, any time of year. On chilly days you can warm up to their cozy in-wall fireplaces, and in summer enjoy the shade from the impressive overhang courtesy the award-winning architecture of the Telus Garden building.

Slated to open in June, the rooftop deck at the new Vij’s on Cambie going to be a real game changer, not just for the restaurant itself, but for the neighbourhood. Head up to the top of this quirky Cambie Street restaurant and sip drinks and snacks surrounded by a sky-high “fence” of lights; this is in part what gave the new flagship its nickname, Vij’s Lantern. Make the patio your destination, or hang out there waiting for your table in the main dining room.

Ancora opened up in the former C restaurant space in Yaletown in September 2015, so while its impressive False Creek-facing patio saw many a sunny day last year, it has yet to soak up the rays for a full, proper patio season. Enjoy terrific cocktails and unique Japanese-Peruvian fare with an upscale West Coast bent.
