Moderat

  • What: Moderat are Modeselektor and Apparat, two Berlin-based electronica groups performing together as one. Fusing bass music with tricky electronics and auspicious pop, this show promises to be treat. With guests Telefon Tel Aviv.
  • Where: Vogue Theatre, 918 Granville Street, Vancouver
  • When: Doors 8 p.m., show 9 p.m.
  • Tickets: Available from Red Cat, Zulu Records or Ticketfly, $30 plus fees

How to Let Go of the World + Q&A

  • What: Oscar-nominated Gasland filmmaker Josh Fox is bringing his latest documentary to Vancouver. His mission? To stop the building of oil and gas infrastructure and speed the transition to renewable energies. Fox will host a Q&A after the film.
  • Where: The Rio Theatre – 1660 E Broadway, Vancouver
  • When: Doors 5:30 p.m., movie 6 p.m.
  • Tickets: This screening is a benefit for the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation Fort McMurray Fire Relief Fund. Tickets available from the Rio, $10 in advance, $12 at the door.

Victoria Day Family Fun

  • What: This will be a free morning of fun for the family, including play gym (with a bouncy castle), arts and crafts, games, balloon art, and more! A pizza and healthy snacks concession will be available.
  • Where: Sunset Community Centre – 6810 Main Street, Vancouver
  • When: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Scintilla Film Festival

  • What: The Scintilla Film Festival aims to provide a unique platform upon which young film makers may explore the realm of imagination and embark on their journey to bring their emotion and feelings to the silver screen.
  • Where: VIFF Vancity Theatre – 1181 Seymour Street, Vancouver
  • When: 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Waterfront Comedy

  • What: This week’s free Waterfront Comedy at the Princeton brings you the hilarious Amber Harper-Young, with supporting acts Jonny Paul, Hector Rivas and Justin O’Hearn.
  • Where: Princeton Pub – 1901 Powell Street, Vancouver
  • When: 9 p.m.
