18-year-old woman sexually assaulted in East Vancouver

Vancouver Police are investigating a sexual assault incident early Thursday morning that targeted a young woman in the Eastside area.

According to police, the incident occurred at 4:30 a.m. when an 18-year-old woman was walking along East 8th Avenue between Rupert and Renfrew Street. She was approached from behind by a stranger who grabbed her and pulled her to the ground.

In response, the woman screamed and fought off her attacker, who subsequently ran away.

A suspect has not been identified at this early stage in the investigation; the suspect has only been described as a male.
