This April and May, Vancouver Opera sweeps back onto the stage with the modern musical classic, Evita

Vancouver Opera wants to give you the chance to experience this Broadway favourite right here in Vancouver, running on April 30, May 1, 5, 6, 7, and 8.

Held at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Evita is the winner of seven Tony Awards and tells the story of the charismatic and controversial Eva Perón. Set in the politically turbulent 1930s and 1940s, the plot follows Eva’s remarkable journey from small town slums to the tango clubs of Buenos Aires.

She makes her way into the presidential palace on the arm of her new husband, General Juan Perón. Watch her defend the rights of workers and the poor, following her trials and tribulations along the way.

The audience can expect a full-scale production of Latinate rhythms and contemporary ballads for an overall compelling piece of work.
