Summer is just around the corner and you can’t remember the last time you hit the gym. Even worse, you’re bored at the thought of another jaunt on the treadmill.

Instead, check out these unique fitness classes offered throughout the Fraser Valley to up the ante on your workout routine.

Circus classes

If you have ever fantasized about running away and joining the circus, now is your chance! Langley’s The Circus Lab offers classes for all ages and skill levels that promise to improve your strength, coordination, health and mood. You can take classes that focus specifically on trapeze, partner acrobatics, juggling, or unicycle (to name a few), or you can take a combination class that gives you a taste of it all. In addition to a variety of classes, The Circus Lab also offers small class sizes and options for those wary of heights.

Pole dance

Although pole dance classes have been around for the past few years, they have been increasing in popularity. Many pole studios now offer a variety of different classes ranging from regular dance classes to aerial fitness and advanced pole. These classes are not only a great workout but also a great way to socialize and break out of your shell. Next time you are looking for something to do, grab your girls and head to one of the many pole fitness studios in the Fraser Valley. The Goddess Movement in Abbotsford and Mysfit Fitness in Langley are two great options.

Trampoline fitness

Trampoline parks have started popping up in the Lower Mainland and they make a perfect fitness venue. Not only are you improving your physical health but trampoline fitness is a great mood booster as well. You can simply drop in for a free jump on your own or with friends, or take part in some of the organized activities that are offered. At Surrey’s SkyZone Park you can try dodge ball, basketball, and group fitness classes, all on a trampoline. Extreme AirPark in Langley has similar options.

Hot pilates/fusion/barre

If you like hot yoga, why not try a “hot” version of another class? Many studios now offer pilates, yoga fusion, barre fit classes and more in a heated room to get the blood and sweat flowing. Oxygen Yoga uses infrared heat, which boasts many benefits such as improved arthritis symptoms, better sleep and clearer skin. Even better: Oxygen has tons of locations throughout the Fraser Valley so there’s a class and location for everyone.

Outdoor fitness

If working out indoors is not your thing, why not try one of the great outdoor fitness options the Fraser Valley has to offer? The Chilliwack Outdoor Club organizes events throughout the year for its members that include hiking, canoeing, kayaking, snowshoeing and more. In addition to physical activities they also organize trail and river clean up trips, so you can give back while improving your fitness. If you’d like to explore the outdoors and workout on your own schedule, try renting equipment from Mt. Waddington’s Outdoors in Chilliwack and hit some trails.
