Police are investigating an early morning stabbing in Surrey’s Whalley neighbourhood that left one man in serious condition.

According to Surrey RCMP, the incident happened just after 4 a.m. in the area of 103rd Avenue and 128th Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a male with several stab wounds in his upper body. He was rushed to hospital for treatment.

Witnesses told police that a male suspect fled the scene before police arrived. However, the suspect was located and arrested without incident shortly by patrol units.

“The investigation is continuing at present,” read a statement by police. “Witnesses are being interviewed, and a neighbourhood canvas is being conducted.”

Anyone with information that could assist investigators is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers’ anonymous hotline at 1-800-222-8477.

This incident follows another stabbing in Metro Vancouver just one hour earlier. A man was stabbed at the intersection of Seymour and Dunsmuir streets in downtown Vancouver.
