The annual pop-up amusement park inside B.C. Place Stadium will not be going ahead this Spring Break.

PlayDome Indoor Carnival has been a longstanding tradition in mid-March, coinciding with the Spring Break period for elementary and high school students in the region. But an official says the event will not return this year due to the stadium’s busy schedule of major sporting events.

According to Duncan Blomfield, the Manager of Marketing and Communications for B.C. Place, the event will not go ahead due to the Canada Sevens rugby event held this past weekend, the Canada Men’s National Team vs. Mexico 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match on March 25, and two Whitecaps FC home matches on March 26 and April 2.

However, there are plans to have PlayDome return to the stadium during Spring Break 2017.

The carnival usually opens for about a week and a half, but that does not include an extra few days required for set-up, testing, and teardown. Last year’s event featured over 45 rides and attractions.
