The 21-year-old blueliner from Yekaterinbug, Russia arrived to Vancouver last Wednesday and the hype machine has been into overdrive ever since.
He’s tall like Chara. He’s Russian like Bure! Will he be some kind of Chara-Bure superhuman?? Who’s to say?
Tryamkin, whose name is pronounced “tram-kin”, will become the first Canucks player in franchise history to wear #88. That’s a bold number.
He’s made some bold statements, too.
Tryamkin, who is always compared to Chara, says he wants to surpass the former Norris Trophy winner. He was asked if his first practice was like the first day of school, to which he said no, “like first day of my life”.
We don’t know how good Tryamkin will be, but we’ll get our first look at Rogers Arena against the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday.
