The TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival has announced that Lauryn Hill, Sarah McLachlan, and a trio comprised of Neko Case, k.d. lang, and Laura Veirs will headline their Marquee Series at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.
Tickets will go on sale on Friday, March 4 and can be purchased online and by telephone at 1-888-732-1682. Tickets for previously announced Marquee artists Joe Jackson and Tedeschi Trucks Band are currently on sale. The Jazz Festival, which celebrates its 31st annual edition this year, takes place from June 24 – July 3, 2016.

Hill is best known for being a member of iconic hip-hop group the Fugees, as well as for her critically-acclaimed solo album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, which produced hits such as “Doo Wop (That Thing”) and “Everything is Everything” and won five Grammy Awards. She recently recorded six tracks for the soundtrack to the upcoming Nina Simone documentary, What Happened, Miss Simone?.

Halifax-born McLachlan has more than 25 years in the recording industry under her belt, along with two Grammy Awards, four Juno Awards, and over 40 million sold albums. Her Sarah McLachlan School of Music — a Vancouver-based, non-profit music education program — provides free music lessons to hundreds of at-risk youths every year.

Supergroup case/lang/veirs is the result of an email k.d. lang spontaneously sent to Neko Case and Laura Veirs suggesting they make a record together. For the forthcoming album from this one-of-a-kind project, the musicians wrote 14 original songs over almost three years, drawing inspiration from mysterious subjects including a supermoon, 1970s folk singer Judee Sill, and the “best kept secret” in Silver Lake.
