On Sunday night, the nine-year-old actor picked up the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role at the Canadian Screen Awards for his turn in the movie Room. The Irish-Canadian movie is based on a novel by Emma Donoghue about a woman who was held captive for seven years and gives birth to a boy who grows up in the confines of a single room.

Tremblay, who presented at this year’s Oscars, was adorably humble in his acceptance speech at the Canadian Screen Awards.

“I can’t believe a kid like me won against a bunch of talented adults,” he reportedly said.

Room also picked up the award – or “Candys” as they’re known – for Best Motion Picture, and lead actress Brie Larson took home the Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role award.

This isn’t the first honour the pint-sized actor has picked up this award’s season. Tremblay took home the award for Best Young Actor at the Critic’s Choice Awards back in January. The film had four nominations at the Oscars, with Larson taking home the Best Actress trophy.

Tremblay’s parents accompanied him to the awards. In case you didn’t already know, his dad is a police officer with the VPD, and both of his parents are ridiculously good-looking.
