The third annual pub meet to raise money for the legacy fund of North Shore Rescue legend Tim Jones has been announced for April 23.
More than 200 people are expected to attend the event, at Seymour’s Pub in North Vancouver, which will include a silent auction and raffle.
All funds raised go directly to supporting Jones’ vision for North Shore Rescue. Since his unexpected death in 2014, more than a quarter of a million dollars has been donated.
Tickets for the fundraiser are $25 including a $15 food and drink voucher – but if you can’t make it, you can always make a donation to North Shore Rescue on the campaign website.
During his career as a volunteer search leader, Jones rescued at least 1600 people on Vancouver’s North Shore mountains – all while working as a paid paramedic.
Jones was an outspoken advocate for wilderness safety; he was awarded the Order of B.C. in 2011 and given an Honorary Doctorate by Capilano University in 2012.
His death two years ago, when he suffered a heart attack aged just 57, devastated the search and rescue community, who set up the legacy fund in his honour.
