WTF: No Cherry Blossom Frappuccino in Vancouver?!

Ahhhh, springtime in Vancouver, and the beautiful bounty of cherry blossom blooms draping the city in their fragrant loveliness. These annual floral fireworks are a calling card of Vancouver March to April, and there are plenty of events lined up to mark the season.

Now Starbucks has released a limited edition Cherry Blossom Frappuccino timed with peak cherry blossom season. Oh, but sorry… It’s not available in Canada.

Popular in Japan since 2010, this is the first time Starbucks is bringing the special blended drink over, but Canada–including Vancouver and its lovely cherry blossoms–off the delivery list.

“The Starbucks beverage is a blend of sweet strawberries and cream with white chocolate sauce and matcha drizzle, topped with whipped cream and a sprinkle of matcha,” Starbucks says of their Cherry Blossom Frappuccino.

Okay, so all hope is not lost. You could hack the Cherry Blossom frap by ordering a Strawberries & Cream Frappuccino® Blended Crème with added white mocha, whip, and matcha powder on top. You’ll be missing the “matcha drizzle” in the drink, though you could see if your barista would add a splash of their green tea frap mix to the strawberries base to get that extra kick.

Otherwise, head across the border from now until March 20 if you are desperate to try this spring-y creation from the all-mighty ‘bux.
